Chester Borough’s Environmental & Open Space Committee and Recreation Committee are excited to announce the reintroduction of Chester Day this spring!  What is Chester Day?  It’s an event that offers all Chester residents – Borough and Township, young and old, handy and not handy, etc. – a chance to:

  1. Give back to the community by helping with beautification and restoration projects like planting flowers, cleaning parks and streets, clearing trails, etc.
  2. Come together for a post-service celebration with refreshments and family-friendly entertainment

We hope to reestablish Chester Day as an annual tradition. We invite you, your family, and friends to accompany us on Saturday, May 21, 2022 for a time of service, celebration, and community pride.  Service projects will start at 9:30AM and run for several hours at various locations across town. The celebration will take place at Municipal Field from 2:00-5:00PM.  and will include live music by Mr. T & Friends, a performance by Bill the Juggler, a giant blow up slide, refreshments, and more! This event is free and all are welcome!

Charles Dickens

DICKENS OF A HAUNTED CHRISTMAS

Presented by Carlotta Holton
DECEMBER 2022, DATE AND TIME TBD
Charles Dicken’s “A Christmas Carol,” replete with ghostly spirits, is part of our classical heritage. We all remember Scrooge’s infamous greed and disrespect for his fellow man.  Come find out why Dickens, who was fascinated with the supernatural ,wrote a ghost story every year and who and what influenced him to write in that genre. Using changes of clothing and hats, Holton explores his childhood, interest in seances, his wife and mistress and his cofounding of London’s Ghost Club.
